What is GSA SmartPay?
GSA SmartPay is the Federal Government's new charge card program. Federal employees will be carrying Visa, MasterCard, or Voyager cards. They will use these cards to pay for:
- Commerical goods and services (Visa & MasterCard)
- Travel-related expenses (Visa & MasterCard)
- Fleet expenses (Voyager)
Why Should I Accept These Cards?
Credit cards are now the Federal Government's prefered method of payment. The benefits to you, as a merchant, are
- Reduced billing and collection costs
- Electronic Payment within 72 hours
- Increased business oppurtunities with the Federal Government

Federal Government employees are encouraged to give their business to vendors accepting credit cards. Keep in mind the following statistics:
- More than 250,000 employees use Visa and MasterCard purchase cards
- 1.5 Million employees use Visa and MasterCard travel cards
- Over 400,000 fleet cards are being used
What About Professional Services?
The Federal Government encourages their cardholders to put all purchases on their cards-- including contract service payments. So, whether you provide engine parts or plumbing -- paper materials or engineering services, your business will benefit by accepting credit cards.
